Cugley swoops for Brighton keeper

Friday 23rd February 2007

In a dramatic turn of events late this afternoon, after being told he was not available earlier in the week, Folkestone Invicta boss Neil Cugley's number one goalkeeping target Richard Martin has been made available by his club Brighton & Hove Albion.

Martin has signed a one month loan deal, spanning five games. His last game will be away against Walton and Hersham on 24th March 2007 and makes his debut at Boreham Wood tomorrow.

Neil has already stated that he has total confidence in the ability of Luke Stonebridge but there is no substitute for experience in what remains a battle for Ryman Premiership status.

The Manager has said on many occasions that given the chance he would rather introduce Luke when we are safe.

Cugley had also had a meeting with longstanding target, left-sided defender Mark Green, who was released by Tonbridge Angels earlier in the week.

But despite terms being agreed the former Gillingham, Margate, Welling United and Eastbourne Borough defender, has decided to join Dartford as he lives nearby in Longfield.
