Countdown to Princes Park: 12 Days - Burman expects a "very tough test" against Tanners

Monday 30th October 2006

Dartford play their last home league game in exile when FA Cup heroes Leatherhead visit Thurrock’s Ship Lane ground tonight, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Tanners will travel to Torquay United in the first round proper of the FA Cup after their 2-1 win at AFC Sudbury at the weekend.

Dartford, who won 3-1 at Corinthian Casuals in the league at the weekend, welcome Evesham United in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy - their last ever home game in exile on Saturday.

The Darts then make the short trip to Welling United next Tuesday in the first round of the Kent Senior Cup before they end their 14-year exile in front of a sell-out 4,100 crowd against Horsham YMCA in the opening game at Princes Park on 11th November.

Darts boss Tony Burman told www.dartfordfootballclub.co.uk  that he is expecting a tough game against their Surrey opponents tonight.

He said: “Tonight we face a very tough test against a side who have lost only once this season and on Saturday progressed to the first round of the FA Cup with a great result away from home."

Burman hopes his side can collect at least a point that will put his side back on top of the Ryman League Division One South table for at least 24 hours.

Current leaders Fleet Town, level on points with the Darts, travel to Burgess Hill Town tomorrow night.

Burman added: “Nobody wins the league in October and we have to stay focused and try and put another three points in the bank and add to our tally for the season.”

Meanwhile, striker James Carter, whose been out injured for ten months, scored in his comeback game for the reserves at the weekend- a 2-1 win at Maidstone United.

TARGET 300

We are hoping that their will be a crowd of over 300 at Ship Lane tonight - Dartford’s last home League game in exile.

Hopefully Leatherhead will attract a few away fans too following their fourth qualifying round win at the weekend.

And without any other games taking place tonight, Dartford would like as many fans to make the trip through the tunnel to watch their EXCITING team in action.

Here are the directions:

From the South - M25 to junction 31 (exit after tolls - Left hand lane at tunnel) third exit at next roundabout (Ship Lane) ground on the right about 200 yards down (Next to the Thurrock Hotel)
