This is the first time we have ever played a club from the Football League, so it really is a special occasion for Chislehurst Glebe Football Club, says proud chairman Rocky McMillan

Tuesday 13th January 2026

CHISLEHURST GLEBE chairman Rocky McMillan says playing host to Queens Park Rangers in the last 16 of the London Senior Cup tonight is a very proud moment for the club.

It will be the first time that the Foxes have played Football League opposition in any competition and is relishing playing the Championship club’s Development Squad in the County Cup.

Queens Park Rangers sit in eleventh-place in the EFL Championship and at first-team level are 169 places above Chislehurst Glebe, who are in 17th place in the ninth-tier Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division table.

Chislehurst Glebe spent £1.6m worth of ground improvements during the summer, laying an artificial playing surface, which no longer has a slope – useful on a wet night like this.

“We’re absolutely delighted to host such a top-class side in this competition,” said a proud McMillan, who founded the club alongside his wife Grace, as Glebe Globetrotters back in 1995, before switching the name from Glebe to Chislehurst Glebe last summer to represent its location.

“This is the first time we have ever played a club from the Football League,  so it really is a special occasion for Chislehurst Glebe Football Club.

“To be playing under the floodlights at our new all-weather stadium, against truly first-class opposition, is a very proud moment for everyone connected with the club.

“That said, we’ll be doing our very best tonight to make a proper game of it.  The lads on the other side are full-time professionals but night’s like this are what football is all about.

“Our boys will relish the experience, give absolutely everything and we’ll see where that takes us – just as Macclesfield showed can be done on Saturday.”

FA Cup holders Crystal Palace suffered a humiliating Third Round exit to Enterprise National League North side Macclesfield on Saturday, losing 2-1 away from home against a side that were 117 places beneath them in the football pyramid – which proves that anything can happen on a night like this.

The R’s went to the much-criticised London Stadium in Stratford and were knocked out by Premier League strugglers West Ham United, losing 2-1.

John Rooney's Macclesfield have been awarded another home tie agaisnt Premier League side Brentford in the Fourth Round next month.

“We’ll probably have had a very heavy day of rain and without our new all-weather surface this game would almost certainly have been called off,” added McMillan.

“Hopefully, we’ll see a good crowd tonight. We all know it can sometimes be harder than expected to tempt people out locally but with very few games on and anything on grass likely to be postponed, fingers crossed we get a strong turnout.

“Most of all, enjoy the evening. Let’s put on a good show – and you never know.”

Queens Park Rangers thrashed Isthmian League Premier Division side Cray Valley (Paper Mills) 7-2 in the London Senior Cup on 2 December and since then the Development side have lost League games to Cardiff City (1-3) and Burnley (0-1).

Queens Park Rangers sit in 12th place (of 20 teams) in the Premier League Development League table, having picked up four wins, six draws and four defeats.

The Foxes – who claimed only their fourth league win of the season last time out, a vital 2-1 win over Keith McMahon’s Corinthian on 3 January – remain in relegation trouble.

Frankie Sawyer’s side are in the bottom three in the table, having picked up 18 points (four wins, six draws and 13 defeats), five points clear of the drop zone, that still contains Stansfeld and Hythe Town.

The Foxes travel to play Darren Beale’s Hythe Town (13 points from 21 games) on Saturday, before hosting the side immediately above them, Faversham Strike Force (18 points from 20 games) seven days later.

“We didn’t play at the weekend, which gave us a valuable opportunity to take stock,” revealed McMillan, who parted company with manager Dan Lawrence on 25 September, after losing 10 of his 13 games, before appointing Sawyer, who has won four, drawn five and lost 6 of his 15 games at the helm.

“I used the time to get the management team together for a good, honest discussion about where we are and what lies ahead.

“We’ve got some big games coming up in the League over the next three or four weeks.

“The players know what’s expected of them and hopefully we can start pulling ourselves clear of the relegation battle we currently find ourselves in.”

Admission prices for tonight: £8 (adults), £5 (concessions), £0 (under 16s).  The game kicks off earlier than normal at 19:30.
