Charlton Athletic appoint Jamie Day as their new professional development academy coach

CHARLTON ATHLETIC have appointed Jamie Day as their new professional development phase coach at their highly-acclaimed Academy at Sparrows Lane.

 

Day, 47, joins the Championship club following Kevin James’ departure and will work alongside under 18 lead coach Jason Pearce.

The former Welling United, Ebbsfleet United and Braintree Town and Bangladesh national team manager,  was recently assistant coach to Scott Lindsey at Crawley Town and Milton Keynes Dons.

Day won the then Conference South title with Welling United in 2013, during his first of two spells in charge at Park View Road.

“I worked here at Charlton 20 years ago in the Academy, so it’s nice to come back home,” said Day.

“I know it’s a good club and there are lots of good people here. It’s a good move for me to get back to working in youth football.

“I enjoy working with Pearcey, he’s a good lad and a good coach and Steve Avory is someone I’ve known a long time – he’s like the godfather of Charlton.  I’m looking forward to working with everyone.”

Pearce also added on Charlton Athletic’s website: “We are really pleased with the appointment of Jamie Day. He comes to the club with a vast amount of experience in the professional game as a coach and a manager and at international level as well.

“For me and the players it is fantastic to have someone with his level of experience come in.”
