Carruthers returns to Ashford Town

Saturday 21st October 2006
Striker Matt Carruthers has returned to Ashford Town in a bid to help them climb up the Ryman League Division One South table, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Nuts & Bolts will climb up five places if they beat Corinthian Casuals in the basement battle at the Homelands today.

Ashford signed three players on loan last week and Luke Coleman (who scored within two minutes of his debut), Drew Watkins and Adam O’Neill played during their 3-2 defeat at Maidstone United in midweek.

Teenage striker Coleman arrived from Nationwide Conference side Gravesend & Northfleet, whilst Watkins and O’Neill came from Tonbridge Angels.

“Matt Carruthers is back having been released by Folkestone Invicta recently,” unveiled chief executive Mr Mark Jenner.

”Some will remember him from a few years ago at the Homelands, after which he played in the Conference for Dover and Mansfield Town.

”An exciting player to watch.  Can he turn it on for the Nuts & Bolts?”

Carruthers’ recent history has seen him play Conference South football at Welling United.
