Burman tells his team to show their quality

Friday 27th October 2006
Dartford travel to bottom-of-the-table side Corinthian Casuals tomorrow before welcoming Leatherhead (if they don’t draw their FA Cup tie tomorrow) to Ship Lane in what will be the club’s last home league game in exile, writes Stephen McCartney.

Corinthian Casuals, the famous amateur club that wear pink and chocolate quartered shirts, threw away a 2-0 lead against Kent side Ashford Town at the Homelands last weekend, before settling for a point in a 2-2 draw.

Leatherhead are expected to play Darts’ last ever league game away from the town on Monday night, before Evesham United visit Ship Lane in the second qualifying round of the FA Trophy on 4th November.

Then it’s the big one, when the Darts finally come home following their 14-year exile, against Horsham YMCA on 11th November,

“This weekend we have two very important league games in the space of three days,” boss Tony Burman told www.dartfordfc.co.uk.

“Tomorrow our opponents are at the wrong end of the table and if we are to strengthen our position in the league we must go and get something from this sort of game.

“At the moment we have a couple of niggling injuries to players, which are a cause for concern and with two games coming up it may influence my team selection over the weekend.”

Jay May (back), Eddie McClements (groin) and Dave Martin (knee) are all doubts but Burman revealed the trio may feature in Tolworth tomorrow.

But Danny White and Glen Billenness have recovered from injury and will be added to the squad and James Carter, who signed Ryman League forms last Sunday, following his long-term injury, will play for the reserves.

Burman added: “I want the players to work hard and show their quality.  If we can achieve this we will be a difficult team to beat.”
