Beating Deres was our best performance of the season, hails Corinthian boss James Collins

Friday 12th September 2014
CORINTHIAN manager James Collins hailed their victory over unbeaten league leaders Erith & Belvedere as their best performance of the season.

The Gay Dawn Farm outfit defeated Selsey away from home in The FA Vase last weekend before stunning former boss Matt Longhurst and his side with a 2-1 win on Tuesday night.

The Deres arrived with a 100% record in the league after six games but goals from Jack Mahoney and Moahmmed Eisa gave Collins the points.

Corinthian, in 12th place, travel to eighth-placed Beckenham Town in the league tomorrow and Collins said: “We go into tomorrow’s game on the back of two good wins.

“A well-deserved 3-0 victory away at Selsey and then without doubt our best performance of the season beating Erith & Belvedere.

“It was an excellent all-round performance with every single player contributing to a fantastic win against a really good Erith & Belvedere team.

“We hope to take that into tomorrow’s game against Beckenham.  I have watched them from afar over the last few years and Beckenham are always a team that I have enjoyed watching.  They pass the ball and have very good players and were rewarded with an excellent season last year.

“We’re looking forward to going to play on the immaculate surface over there.

“We play them in The Vase and League Cup so we’re going to get to know each other quite well in the upcoming weeks!”
