Ashford United part company with Kevin Watson

ASHFORD UNITED have parted company with manager Kevin Watson following their 1-0 home win over Littlehampton Town today.

 

The Nuts & Bolts announced the departure of the former Cray Valley (Paper Mills) manager, who took the helm at Homelands Stadium on 3 May 2023, following the departure of Tommy Warrilow.

Ashford United sit in eleventh-place in the Isthmian League South East Division table, having picked up 39 points (12 wins, three draws and 14 defeats) from their 29 of 38 league outings.

“Kevin Watson and his team have been relieved of their duties at Ashford United , after a disappointing season," said a club statement.

"Ashford United would like to take this opportunity to thank Kevin, Adam Flanagan and Tommy Osborne for their support and efforts this season and we wish them well for their future in football.

"We now prepare and start rebuilding for a positive next season, with new ownership and management.

“Watson replaced the outgoing Tommy Warrilow on 3 May 2023.

“A tricky start to the season’s preparations, see training conducted in various places, while the 3G pitch went down at Homelands.

“Once again, we would like to take this opportunity to with Kevin, Adam Flanagan and Tommy Osborne all the best for the future.

“We can also confirm tonight that Connor Dymond has left the club and also wish him well for his future endeavours.”

Watson was in charge of 40 games in all competitions, winning 16, drawing six and losing 18.

Watson guided the club to the semi-finals of the League Cup, where they lost 4-2 to Premier Division second-placed side Chatham Town last Tuesday.

The Homelands Stadium outfit have appointed Alan Walker as their interim manager for their last nine league games and he will be assisted during this time by Darren Hare, who was part of Sammy Moore's management team at Faversham Town earlier in the season.

The club are 14 points adrift of the play-off zone going into their trip to Burgess Hill Town on Tuesday night.
