Ashford cancel Whybourne signing

ASHFORD TOWN have revealed that the signing of Rhys Whyborne has been cancelled due to the players work commitments, writes Sam Dixon.

Nuts and Bolts manager Steve Lovell revealed that the Hastings United defender could not commit himself to the pre-season training schedule and himself decided that he would not be giving his all to the cause.

Lovell, speaking to www.ashfordtownfc.co.uk, said: "His job put pressure on him which meant that he may have only been able to make one training session a week so the lad felt that it would have been unfair on the rest of the players as he wouldn't have been giving 100% commitment.

“It's a shame but we work on a lot of things in training so it's important we have a full squad there to work with.

"I'll be talking to another couple of defenders over the next couple of weeks and try and bring one in before the beginning of the season.

“I'm looking to make four more signings before next season. We will be working hard to bring in that defender plus a goalkeeper, midfielder and a forward, if we can get them in then we will be ready."
