I cannot wait forever and I am now talking to other players in the view to signing them for the coming season, says Ashford United boss Tommy Warrilow

ASHFORD UNITED manager Tommy Warrilow has made his first two new summer signings.

The Nuts & Bolts suffered a heartbreaking 2-1 extra time defeat to Horsham in the Bostik South East Division Play-Off Final, having completed their 38 game campaign in fourth-place with 68 points on the board.

Warrilow has unveiled the signings of midfielders Danny Walder and Tom O’Connor, whose previous clubs were Faversham Town and Thamesmead Town respectively.

Warrilow has lost the services of central midfielder Sam Corne and wideman Clark Woodcock, who has been snapped up by Canterbury City’s newly-appointed manager Clive Cook.

“All of our players who finished last season with us have all been offered deals and are currently considering them,” Warrilow told www.ashfordunitedfc.com.

“But as I have said to them, I cannot wait forever and I am now talking to other players in the view to signing them for the coming season.

“At the moment, two other lads are close to signing and we will announce them once everything has been finalised.”

Woodcock was Warrilow’s second-choice goalkeeper last season and Warrilow wishes him well at the Southern Counties East Football League Premier Division club.

“We’ve told him the door is always open for him to come back as he’s a great lad,” he said.

“He’s been given a good deal by Canterbury and the chance to play regular first team football at a good level.

“We wish him the best of luck and we will see him at pre-season.”

Goalkeeper Sam Mott, holding midfielder Josh Wisson, left-back Jake McIntyre, midfielder Lee Prescott and target-man Jay May have all agreed deals to stay at Homelands Stadium next season.
