Dave Carroll's deflected free kick after twenty five minutes
turned out to be the difference between the two sides at Stag Meadow.
Bromley's Gary Drewett, making his first start of the season, fouled Craig
O'Conner twenty five yards from goal and former Aldershot Town and Wycombe
Wanderers star Carroll struck a free kick which took a deflection before finding
its way into the right corner of the Ravens net.
Bromley's Danny Smith fired over before Kieran Adams' dipped a shot wide for the
Royalists in the first five minutes of the game.
Windsor's former Bromley goalkeeper, Chuck Martini will be pleased keeping a
clean sheet against his former club. In the corresponding fixture last season,
the Moroccan's heroics earned Bromley a 1-0 win thanks to Adolph Amoako's late
winner.
But it wasn't to be Bromley's night, supported vocally by their loyal band of
followers.
Three minutes after the break, Amaoko's run at goal saw him blast high over
Martini's crossbar.
Carroll's 52nd minute free kick was headed over by a team-mate when he was left
completely unmarked in the middle of the Bromley penalty area, before Bromley's
Bobby Nolan received a good cutting pass from Colin Luckett but Nolan's
cross-cum-shot screamed wide of the far post.
Carroll fired a right foot shot over Danny Harwood's crossbar just before the
hour mark before a clever pass from Jason McKoy, who turned his marker Adams,
before floating a cross but Tony Reid headed wide.
McKoy then shot high and over for the visitors whilst under pressure but the
closest Bromley came to scoring was in the 65th minute. Luckett's pass sent
Amoako surging towards goal but Martini came rushing off his line and the shot
rolled narrowly wide of the foot of the left upright, hitting the side netting.
Both players needed treatment after colliding with each other.
With the Bromley bench barking words of encouragement to their players, Bromley
were given a lifeline in the 75th minute.
Amoako won his side a free kick in the same place as Carroll's winning strike.
Facing a four man wall, positioned inside the D, Bromley's night was summed up
when Luckett blasted the free kick well over the Windsor & Eton crossbar.
Two minutes later, Bromley boss Stuart McIntyre swooped, brining on Leroy
Huggins and Bobby George for Drewett and Amaoko but the three man forward line,
alongside Reid, couldn't break down a solid home defence.
Harwood saved from Graham Eloumani, blocking his shot, when he received a square
pass from Keith Scott, in the sixth minute of stoppage time.
Bromley travel to Ashford Town's Homelands ground in the FA Cup, First
Qualifying Round on Saturday, and any replay will take place at Hayes Lane on
Tuesday 16 September (7.45pm).
