Bromley's new reserve team accepted by Kent League member clubs

BROMLEY Football Club have had their application to field their new reserve team unanimously accepted by member Go Travel Kent League clubs at a meeting in Lordswood tonight, writes Stephen McCartney.

The Ryman League Division One outfit were welcomed with open arms, winning the vote by 21 to nil, and will be placed in Division Two, playing their home games at Cray Wanderers’ Oxford Road ground in Sidcup.

Dave Cairns, youth team secretary, was delighted with the decision.  He said: “I think it’s a fantastic move for the club.

“It’s something that not only the youth section want, the first team manager (Stuart McIntyre) and chairman (Jerry Dolke) want as well.

“It’s the missing link at the club between the youth team and first team.  This will now help us develop first team players at Bromley and keep first team squad players fit.”

Bromley will be fielding nine teams at the club at all levels next season starting at under eleven’s right through to under eighteen’s and with the welcomed addition of a reserve team the club will be looking to produce it’s own players.

However, despite playing at several locations last season in Mottingham, Catford and Lee Green, the club’s under eighteen’s squad will be returning back to the club’s Hayes Lane Stadium.

Cairns confirmed: “The under eighteen’s will play their home games at the club’s Hayes Lane Stadium on Sunday’s and the club will put on another youth team game in the afternoon.  We will open up the bar facilities, giving supporters a chance to see the potential that could be playing in the first team.”
