Supporters in for an exciting season, says Whitstable boss Toms

GO TRAVEL Kent League Premier Division outfit Whitstable Town have announced the signing of striker Lee Jones from local rivals Herne Bay, writes Stephen McCartney.

Speaking on the club's website, Belmont boss Matt Toms is highly pleased with his latest capture, and admitted: "Lee is a quality goalscorer who I have tracked for a good while.

"In football you have to show patience and the reward is the signing of a quality player in Lee Jones."

The ambitious manager, who will be looking to challenge for honours again once the season gets underway in August, added: "With the addition of Lee means, the supporters are in for an exciting season."

He added: "We scored goals for fun last year and we aim to go a lot better this season.  All I can say is that you will not see a dull game at the Belmont, not with the quality players we have in the side."

Jones, who spent a number of years at local rivals Herne Bay, is relishing the prospect of wearing the red, white and black of Whitstable Town.

He added: "I am looking forward to joining Whitstable Town.

"I enjoyed my time at Herne Bay, but for me it's the right time to move on.

"I know a lot of the lads very well at Whitstable and the manager has impressed me with his ambition and desire to do well and build on the last couple of seasons.  I want to be part of that." the new signing insisted.
