Toms delighted with Prett capture from Slade Green
Whitstable Town manager Matt Toms announced he was delighted to have signed striker Sam Prett and midfielder Dave Smith from Go Travel Kent League rivals Slade Green and Beckenham Town respectively, writes Tony Rouse.

Toms said: "Prett is a quality striker, quick around the penalty box and he is very good running at defenders.  His pace is frightening, as we know to our cost when he tore us apart recently.

"This is no quick fix, although we needed him to replace John Utterson. "I have been tracking Sam since before the beginning of pre-season, and we nearly had him then but I am over the moon he is joining us now, and he will give the club a lift.

Prett added: "I am very excited and looking forward playing for Whitstable Town."

Toms admitted there are a few more surprises in store but he is keeping quiet about the news at the moment.

He said: "The supporters deserve some success and I intend, with the support of the chairman to give them just that - a team to be proud of."

Toms hopes Smith can re-capture the form that helped the Belmont outfit finish last season so well.

Toms said: "Dave whose partnership in midfield with Marc Seager was instrumental in us finishing so well at the end of last season is back at the club.

"I am delighted and I know he will be an excellent signing for the club.  He will give everyone a lift and he is such an influence on the pitch and in the dressing room."
