Keir honoured to skipper Whitstable

Following his appointment as Whitstable Town manager, the first job Marc Seager did was appoint the long serving Andy Keir as his new captain, writes Stephen McCartney.

And having been at the Belmont for five years, Keir told the club's website www.whitstabletownfc.co.uk he was honoured to lead the side out for their FA Cup preliminary round tie against Ryman Leaguers Fleet Town at the Belmont on Saturday afternoon.

A proud Keir said: "I did not hesitate when Marc asked me (to be captain).  It's a great honour.

"I am looking forward to leading the lads out on Saturday at the Belmont.

"We have some excellent players at the club.  Little has changed in the last couple of weeks .

"I feel we just need to get a decent run of games together and you will see the Whitstable of last season.

"We enjoyed a great run in the FA Cup last year and I see no reason why we can't this."
