Former Thamesmead skipper Kearley returns

THAMESMEAD TOWN are pleased to announce the re-signing of their former skipper Dean Kearley, writes Stephen McCartney.

Kearley left the club last season to join their Kent League rivals Slade Green because he felt he needed a change, but he has decided that he is a 'Mead boy through and through so has opted for a return to the Bayliss Avenue club.

Speaking on the capture, Mead boss Paul Blade told the club's website: "It's an important signing for the club.

"We missed Dean last year, he is one of the best central defenders in the league and I'm happy to have him back.

"Dean decided last year that he needed a change of scenery and went to play with his mates at Slade Green, but he has been at Thamesmead for a long time and wanted to come back."

Thamesmead, however, have started improvement work on their pitch.  The playing surface was vertidrained this week and will be seeded, followed by the pitch being top dressed.

The Kent League club are investing £5,000 on their pitch during the close season to maintain it as one of the best pitches in the Kent League.

Thamesmead are also hoping to have new turnstiles and a PA system installed ahead of the Kent League season, which gets under way on Saturday 13th August.
