Wood finally agrees move to Thamesmead

Thamesmead Town have been boosted ahead of tomorrow' FA Vase First Round visit to Wantage Town with the signing of striker Lewis Wood from Ryman League Division One outfit Banstead Athletic, writes Stephen McCartney.

Assistant manager Keith McMahon admitted they've been chasing the former Cray Wanderers and Beckenham Town striker all season, but is delighted he has chosen to leave Merland Rise for Bayliss Avenue.

"It's a fantastic signing for the club," he told www.thamesmeadtownfc.co.uk

"We have been after Lewis from the start of the season, but he choose to try and play at a higher level, which no one can blame him.

"It's a strong addition to our squad, and a fresh face is what we need at the moment to keep people on their toes.

"Lewis is a proven goalscorer at this level and will help in our push for promotion."

Meanwhile, Thamesmead's visit to FA Cup heroes Ramsgate, in the First Round of the Kent Senior Cup, has been arranged for Tuesday, 8th November.  The game, at Southwood Stadium, kick's off at 7:45pm.
