Thamesmead finally get their man

Go Travel Kent League outfit Thamesmead Town have announced the signing of central defender Mark Dudley, writes Stephen McCartney.

Dudley played for league rivals Greenwich Borough last season and for Cray Wanderers the season before.
Thamesmead manager Paul Blade, speaking on the club's website, said: "Mark is a strong, experienced player that can also score goals.

"He was a player that I was impressed with last season, and I have been watching Mark's movements and was delighted when he became available.
"He is the first of quite a few signings for the club, as we look to replace the couple that have left."

Twenty-four-year-old central defender Tony Russell, who joined Thamesmead Town in 2002 from Greenwich Borough, and previously played for Reading and West Ham United as a schoolboy,  is currently training at Ryman League Division One outfit Bromley.

Midfielders Tony Gallagher, 26 and Wayne Barrett, 28, have both rejoined Kent League neighbours Slade Green.

Dudley is one of five new signings promised by the Bayliss Avenue club, as they hope to improve on their third place finish last season.

Meanwhile, the club are looking for players for it's under 15 squad in the Kent Youth League.  Interested players should email:  keith@maine-plc.com.   Please state you read the article on www.kentishfootball.co.uk
