Long serving Watkins appointed Maidstone manager

Go Travel Kent League Premier Division club, Maidstone United have formally announced that Mal Watkins has been officially appointed as first team manager for the remainder of the season and next season.

Making the announcement, chairman Paul Bowden-Bromley said: "We have reviewed all the best applicants for the vacancy and after careful consideration felt that we already had the best candidate for the role.

"Mal has been with the club for over five years and has sown great loyalty, a huge degree of professionalism and thoroughly deserves the opportunities."

Watkins added: "I am delighted to have been given the job, I know the players.  The last few years have been great and I'm convinced that with some real effort we can end on a high note this season and eventually bring real success to the club and the town."
