Walker returns to Maidstone

Go Travel Kent League club Maidstone United have announced that Alan Walker has joined the club's management structure in a purely advisory role, writes Darrell Lovell.

In-the-news-Walker, 44, who has offered his services in a totally voluntary capacity, will be working directly along side new manager Mal Watkins and will offer advice in all areas of training, coaching and match play.  On match days he will also be actively involved in every aspect of first team competition between now and the end of the season.

Commenting on the new addition, chairman Paul Bowden-Brown said: "We are delighted to welcome Alan back to the club. His experience and know-how will undoubtedly be a huge help to Mal Watkins and the team and will increase the prospects of pushing for that top two finish."

Walker, who is a fully qualified UEFA coach and was manager at Tonbridge Angels and then, until last Saturday, Bromley, commented: "It’s good be back among friends here at Maidstone. I need to be working with a senior club to maintain my coaching qualifications and will now be putting every effort into making sure that this club gains promotion this season."
