Stones expect higher finish
|
Maidstone United's footballing
advisor, Alan Walker, admitted everybody is fit and raring to go for
tomorrow's Kentish Observer League opener at Deal Town, reports www.maidstoneunited.co.uk But midfielder Sam Tydeman is expected to be fit to play against Derek Hares' side following a slight tightening in his hamstring. "We know that Deal will be strong and that they have strengthened their squad over the summer," Walker told the club's website. "Marc Pollard up front has signed from Hythe and we know what he's all about and what he can do," he warned. "They've also signed Wes Hammond and John Utterson so I'm sure that they will be quite an experienced side this weekend." The Stones have made some quality close season signings and Walker is expecting a better season this time out. "As a squad, we're well prepared for the new season," he said. "Last year we came fourth but we've added plenty of quality to the squad with the likes of Nick Hegley, Mo Takaloo, Mario Celaire, Nathan Paul, Garry Kimble, Bradley Sandeman and Matt Nicholl. "With players of that quality on board, we are expecting to achieve a far better finish than last season."
