Wings capture Kedwell

WELLING UNITED manager Adrian Pennock has completed another summer signing with the capture of promising striker Danny Kedwell, reports www.nonleaguedaily.com

Kedwell led the Go Travel Kent League scoring charts last season with twenty-eight league and cup goals for Herne Bay and was being courted by at least ten other clubs, but he turned them down to work with Pennock.

He joins the Wings on a two-year contract.

Pennock said: "Danny is not the finished article yet but he is a natural goalscorer and I believe he has the potential to go even further in the game.

"He had Conference clubs chasing him but he wanted to come to us and I’m delighted because he is a player that I’ve been watching for a while."

Kedwell is the third new player to arrive at Park View Road since the end of the season.

Pennock first swooped for Gravesend & Northfleet duo Lee Gledhill and James Pinnock and then apparently snapped up former Wings youth team keeper Jamie Turner from Tonbridge Angels.

However, it appears that the deal for Turner has not yet been finalised. Indeed, Angels have issued a statement saying: “Jamie Turner has been approached by the Conference South club but the Angels are continuing to make every effort to persuade him to stay.”

Pennock added: "The players were my main summer targets, along with Grays Athletic’s Martin Carthy, who I will speak to in the next week or two, so I’m delighted that they have signed for Welling.

"There are other players in the pipeline who I want to bring to the club but my hands are tied until there are some outgoings."
