Two early goals put Cray Wanderers in the driving seat at
Harrow Meadow where their 4-0 victory moved them above Greenwich Borough into
second place.
Adam Heaslewood and Jamie Kempster netted inside the first nine
minutes, and another strike from Heaslewood on the half hour mark effectively
killed off the game. Jamie Wood added a late goal with five minutes left on
the clock.
Borough battled gamely but couldn't break down the solid Cray
rearguard in which Andy Silk earned the Man of the Match vote at right back.
Wayne Burnett went closest for the home side with a chip shot
that Micky Simmons palmed away, but it was a frustrating afternoon for the
Borough playmaker who was booked late in the game and then saw his last minute
free kick sail harmlessly over the bar.
That means a fifth consecutive game in which Cray have kept a
clean sheet. It is now 528 minutes since a goal was conceded, and the Wands
go into next Tuesday evening's London Senior Cup tie at Brimsdown Rovers
knowing that the all-time club record of 564 minutes, created only twelve
months ago, is in their sights.
