Cray attract Whyteleafe trio

FOLLOWING their promotion from the Go Travel Kent League as champions, Cray Wanderers have kept a very low profile as they look forward to their first Ryman League Division One campaign, writes Stephen McCartney.

Manager Ian Jenkins has retained last season's championship winning squad, although there are hints that experienced goalkeeper Micky Simmons has retired and former Dartford defender Danny Evans has followed suite.

However, former Cray Wanderers and Bromley striker, Mark Tompkins, has used his contacts to bolster the squad.  The experienced striker, still with an eye for goal, has re-joined Jenkins side, and has attracted Ali Reeve and Chris Dickson from his former side Whyteleafe and James Millar has made the switch from Dover Athletic, as the exodus from The Crabble continues.

Jenkins' side returns to pre-season training on 29th June at The Coldharbour Leisure Centre and two pre-season friendlies have already been arranged.

They travel to Kent League neighbours Slade Green on Thursday 5th August before they travel  to Bayliss Avenue two days later to face Thamesmead Town, in the Charity Shield.

Long serving Jenkins, who is looking forward to managing at the higher level, will be making announcements about the possibility of another two away pre-season friendlies shortly.
