Awards given to County League managers
On Saturday, 11th October, Kent County League Chairman, Cyril Windiate, presented the September award , the fifty - first in the Premier Division since they commenced in 1990, to Les Harpley, Manager of Greenways prior to his sides Inter-Regional Challenge Cup First Round tie at home to Bearsted.
The award followed three wins, two away from home, and one draw in the month. The away wins were at Kennington by 2 goals to 1, and at APM Mears by the same margin in the Kent Intermediate Challenge Shield.
The first Saturday of the month his side drew 1-1 away to Cray Valley (PM), before registering a 4-1 home win over New Romney a fortnight later. This was Les Harpley's third Premier Division award after previously collecting the September 1997 and September 2002 awards making it a hat trick of September awards.

Also on Saturday, following their home match against Borough United, League Vice President, Philip Smith, presented the Western Section award to Alan Budden, Manager of Division Two West side Larkfield & New Hythe Wanderers.
This was Alan's first ever Manager of the Month Award and followed his side's 100% record in September with four wins - two at home and two away. The away wins came at Bridon Ropes by 5 goals to 1, and 2-1 at Eltham Palace, with home successes recorded against Westerham and Rusthall by 2 goals to nil and 5 goals to 1 respectively.
This award was the ninety - eighth made to Western Section Managers since they commenced in the Section that, at the beginning of each month, fifty-eight Managers have an equal opportunity of winning.

Both Clubs had excellent disciplinary records for the month which is a pre-requisite for these awards, and both Managers received a cut glass brandy goblet on an inscribed base. As in previous seasons the British Energy Kent County League would like to extend their gratitude to Aford Awards of Bearsted who are now entering their eleventh season of sponsorship of these popular and prestigious awards

The September awards were completed on Saturday 18th October when League Vice President Philip Smith presented the Eastern Section award to Gordon Reader, Manager of Division Two East side, Staplehurst prior to his sides home game against Kennington Reserves.
The award followed a 100% playing record combined with excellent discipline during a month which saw his side win twice at home and twice away, with home successes against Tenterden Town Reserves by 4 goals to 1, and 3-0 against University of Kent Reserves. The away wins were by 5 goals to 2 at Betteshanger Welfare Reserves, and 5-1 at Lydd Town Reserves. This was Gordons first ever Manager of the Month Award and he received a cut glass brandy goblet on an inscribed base.

This award was the ninety-sixth presented to Eastern Section Managers since they commenced in 1990, and the League, as always, would like to extend their gratitude to Aford Awards of Bearsted who have now entered their eleventh season of sponsorship of these ever popular and prestigious awards.
