Fisher Huggings leaves Surrey Docks Stadium
Fisher Athletic boss Bob Davies stated that his experienced
striker Leroy Huggins had left the Dr Martens League Eastern Division club.
Davies told www.nonleaguedaily.com: "The club's management had no alternative
but to come to this decision because Fisher were not in a position to meet the
wage demands that would have kept him at the club."
Davies added: "I was disappointed to see Leroy leave but will now move on to
find the strike partner to play alongside Gary Abbott this season."
However, Davies hinted that it was a distinct possibility that it could be
Richard Brady, a prolific goalscorer whilst at Nationwide League club QPR, who
he hopes to sign in the foreseeable future.
Brady, 20, has been training at the club and taking a full part in the
pre-season preparations.
Fisher played their first build-up game for the new season on Saturday when they
gave every member of their squad a game against Go Travel Kent League champions
Cray Wanderers.
Fisher lead 1-0 at the interval through a goal scored by Danny Fletcher but
eventually went down by 2-1 to two second half goals.
Captain Steve Aris was the only player to play the full 90 minutes, but Davies
was delighted to get this match played with all of his players coming through
unscathed against a side that will no doubt be challenging for honours again
this season.
