Lakin so pleased for Brown

ERITH & BELVEDERE manager Barry Lakin was full of praise for goalscorer Wayne Brown as the Deres kept a clean sheet in their deserved 1-0 win at Tilbury on Saturday, writes Stephen McCartney.

Lakin, whose side climb up to 13th in the Southern League Division One East table, said: " A very well deserved win.  We conceded 13 goals in four games and to go away from home and win 1-0 is fantastic!"

The only goal of the game came from an excellent delivery from Ryan Briggs' corner and a good header from Brown found the back of the net with twelve minutes remaining.

Lakin admitted: "I am really pleased for Wayne.

"He hasn't had the best of starts but yesterday he showed what he is all about - a dominating performance and scoring the goal."

Twelfth placed Chatham Town, with the same amount of points as Lakin's side, are the visitors to Park View Road on Bank Holiday Monday (3pm) and Lakin is looking for the same performance and result from his players.

He added: "I am looking to get three points from it, and if we perform I feel we can get them.

But he warned: "However, if we perform how we have in certain occasions this season, we'll lose."

Dere's fans, however, will be hoping the side that performed so well at Chadfields on Saturday will take to the turf at Park View Road.

Saturday's hero Brown looks set to miss the game against the Medway side due to a sore groin.

Meanwhile, the game against Chatham is www.kentishfootball.co.uk's Match Of the Day.
