Erith & Belvedere add to their squad

ERITH & Belvedere manager Barry Lakin has announced the capture of three players as his squad prepare for the new Southern League Division One East campaign, writes Stephen McCartney.

Lakin revealed: "I have signed Mark Chapman from Tiptree United.  I had Mark at Chelmsford City in the academy team.

"I have also signed Darren Stinks, who can play left back or midfield.  He looks a very good prospect for the club.  Both players are twenty-one years old."

The new boss at Park View Road, added:  "I have my eye on 2-4 more players but I am waiting for their responses.

"I have signed Craig Hales from Dartford, and he looks very fit and has blended in well with the rest of the team."

Scott Saunders, however, is the only player to have left the club, and has teamed up with league rivals, Chatham Town.

Meanwhile, Erith & Belvedere's reserve side carried on where they left off from last season winning their opening pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Goals from Lee Bradford and skipper Sam Whittington saw them beat Sporting Bengal United - the side who finished bottom of the Go Travel Kent League Premier Division last season.

Twenty-two players were taken to the game and all players, including nine trialists, tasted the action.

The first team squad entertain St Albans City at Park View Road on Saturday (3pm) and the club are staging a Meet The Manager event inside the clubhouse after the game so supporters can get their points of view across to the new man in charge.
