Times are hard, insists Dartford manager

Tommy Sampson, manager of Dr Martens League Eastern Division side Dartford insists his injury hit side will fight off relegation this season, even though they have lost their last six games, writes Stephen McCartney.

Speaking on BBC Radio Kent, Sampson, said: "We're probably just about good enough to play in this league.

"I'm not being unkind to my players or the club -  we're trying to survive and avoid finishing in the bottom two.

"Times are hard, times are tough, and we will draw people from the reserves and the bench - that's all I can do."

Dartford make the short trip to local rivals, Fisher Athletic on New Years Day before hosting Hastings United on Saturday.

The Darts last six results have seen them slide to defeats against Erith & Belvedere (1-3), Eastleigh (0-5), Ashford Town (0-2), Histon (0-6), Salisbury City (1-3) and Kings Lynn (1-4).

Meanwhile, Dave Hassett has joined Chatham Town and Steve Marriner will be leaving the Darts shortly due to work commitments that will take him out of the area.

However, Maidstone United defender Paul Foley has joined the club.
