Chatham waiting for Gills' date

CHATHAM TOWN manager Steve Binks has revealed to www.kentishfootball.co.uk he is close to adding a player to last season's squad - that have all pledged their futures to the Maidstone Road club, writes Stephen McCartney.

"There's a player I'm talking to, he's going to have a think about it and let us know within two weeks - otherwise it should be the same squad as last season," said the Rainham based boss.

Binks, however, is expecting teenager Frannie Collin to be signed by their neighbours Gillingham, but he is having difficulties arranging a pre-season friendly with the Coca-Cola Division One side, as part of the deal that has taken the talented player to Priestfield Stadium.

"We are expecting him to sign for Gillingham but we have to wait and see," he said.  "I am assuming he will be registered with them.

"Gillingham did say they were going to give us a game, possibly at short notice and on a Monday night, but Darren Hare - who I was speaking to - has gone to Crystal Palace, so I'll have to confirm something with Steve Lovell," (who is employed by Gillingham as well as being manager of Chatham's Southern League Division One East rivals, Sittingbourme.)
