Ashford on lookout for new talent

Ashford Town's under 15 manager Vince Shell is on the lookout for new talent to boost his squad for the coming season, writes Stephen McCartney.

The junior "Nuts "N" Bolts are getting ready for their second season in the Kent Youth League.

"Preparations are good" said Shell.  "The club are fully behind us and are allowing us to play all our home games at the Homelands stadium.

"Last weekend we hosted Millwall, Gillingham and AFC Wimbledon in a mini tournament, sponsored by GB Approvals, which was a huge success and next week, Tuesday 16th August, we travel to Gillingham for a pre-season fixture.

"We are already attracting a high number of scouts to our fixtures so things are going in the right direction.

"We are, however, desperate to ensure the squad remains competitive and are looking to bring in 2 to 3 new players to ensure we have a fight for places.

"We train twice a week at the Ashford Mini Soccer Centre from 5-7pm and both myself (UEFA B) and assistant Dave Olsen (Level 2) can offer training that promises to improve technical ability and fitness levels.

"Ideally we are looking for players who want to play at Ryman League level and above.

"We are going to use the Gillingham game next week to trial any new players, which should give us an indication of the players abilities."
