Ashford boys win at the Millennium

FIVE members of Ashford Town's under fourteen's team  formed part of the FDS side that won the FORD FDS Cup at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, writes Stephen McCartney.

Laurence Harvey, Danny Shearing, Danny Smith, Alex Shell and Jacop Arnold-Smith all played an important part in their 6-0 win with Arnold-Smith grabbing a brace and Shell grabbing one of the goals.

The boys received their winners medals in the royal box.

With an array of talent on show that included players from the academies of Leeds United, Bristol City, Southampton, Brighton, Sunderland and Aberdeen, the Ashford Town boys took their place in a national side representing Brazilian Soccer Shools.

If competing at the Millennium Stadium wasn't enough the boys went on to win the final 6-0 and gave a good account of themselves and were worthy of their winners medals, which they accepted in the royal box.

The boys now go on to a performance camp in Leeds, where if successful, they may be selected to play at Wembley Stadium next season as well as tours of Sweden and Bolivia.
