Powell moves to Ashford on loan
Dr Martens League Premier Division club Welling United's long-serving forward Dave Powell has joined Eastern League neighbours Ashford Town on loan until the end of the season with a view to a permanent move.

Powell, who has been a model professional for Welling, had been complimented with helping fellow striker Paul Booth gain his confidence at the beginning of the season after the pair put in several first class performances.

The skilful Powell was never a prolific scorer but always had the knowledge and ability to bring other players around him in play with either neat one touch passing or opportunist through balls.

With Phil Collins regaining fitness and form, Powell's opportunities of first-team football became more limited, although he will always be remembered as a player who wore his heart on his sleeve for the Wings.
