We want a winning team - Fenwick

FOUR players from Ryman League Division One club Ashford Town have been ruled out of action due to suspension.

Matty Bower, Barry Gardner, Tom Adlington and Chris Holmes are all sidelined.

Meanwhile, Mohammed Abarar, Troy Bantleman, Lee Blackman, Dean Clement, Yomi Dada, Marvin Elliott, Leon Fisher, Shane Graham, Danny Hunwick, Steve Sallis and Aaron O'Leary have all been released.

O'Leary, however, has been snapped up by Go Travel Kent League side Tunbridge Wells and made his debut in their dramatic 4-3 win over Erith Town in Saturday's FA Vase second round tie.

The opportunity now arises for some of the promising reserve team players to stake a place in the first-team squad which has now settled down a little after the influx of players joining new head coach Frank Gill from Combined Counties League side Southall.

Ashford director of football Terry Fenwick said: “It’s all about having the right pegs in holes. I believe we have maybe five to six positions covered now with good quality. Slowly but surely we are raising the bar. Two to three more players of better quality in certain positions and we will be getting to where we want to be.

“Frank Gill and I are forever comparing our players with the opposition we are playing against, there are players out there, be assured that we are doing all we can to produce a winning team for the town.”
