Former Gate goalkeeper settles his future with Crawley

Nationwide Conference club Crawley Town have handed England National Game international goalkeeper Phil Smith a new two-year contract.

Smith joined Crawley in the summer of 2004 from Margate and played a major part in the club establishing itself in the Nationwide Conference.

He had signed for Margate from neighbouring Dover Athletic in July 2002 where he had been since September 2001 after joining from another Kent neighbour, Folkestone Invicta.

In 2001/02 he gained selection for the FA XI, although injury prevented him from taking part, and has since been capped by the England National Game side.
